 Sure, Jana’s got problems. We’ve all got problems. She’s got a mortgage, a husband, two daughters, a dog, a dead fish or two buried in the backyard and hair that needs to be cut and colored on a timely basis. See? Problems galore.
But Jana, owner of dunzo LLC, likes to laugh. “When you remember the noon parent/teacher meeting at dinnertime, there’s nothing you can do but laugh. When you lock your keys in your car for the second time in a week, you’ve just got to laugh,” she says. “When you’re launching a web-based business in the information-technology age and you realize your first-grader is more computer savvy than you’ve ever thought about, what can you do but laugh?” she asks. And then she laughs. Jana laughs until her eyes water. She laughs until she cries. She laughs until she cannot catch her breath. She laughs until she has to sit down to keep from wetting her pants. “So the neighbor kids steal toys. So the refrigerator leaked all over the newly installed wooden floor and caused it to buckle and warp. So two out of two daughters talk nonstop about everything and nothing. So the husband’s company is being sold next week,” she says. “The list goes on and on. What are you going to do? Everybody’s got problems,” she says laughing. But Jana likes to solve her problems, not dwell on them. In an instant, in one big lightening bolt of genius Jana was able to check five or six problems off her list. Her idea wasn’t just going to solve the everyday problems of having competitive, year-round swimmers for daughters and leather car seats. This was going to solve deep-seated-going-back-to-childhood problems like her mother’s voice in her head asking, “What if you’re in a car wreck?” as she drives her girls to school in pajamas. Although Jana’s problems are the size of problems born on cul-de-sacs and not taken seriously by the great minds of our times, they are problems just the same. dunzos started as one woman’s solution to a series of problems and potential heartache. Troubles that might have caused a lesser person, a more infrequent laugher undue stress, ignited the spark of genius in Jana and dunzo’s were born. A small, simple solution to a myriad of personal problems took on a life of its own. Soon friends wanted them, family asked for them, neighbors clamored for them.

As it turns out, Jana has never “paddled out.” She’s never been on a surfboard. She’s never caught a wave. But Jana understands everyone deserves a holiday from zippers, a furlough from jeans a reprieve from denim be they baggies, carpenters or bells. And everyone deserves a break from their own collection of personal problems.
